| Von
West Vancouver fährt man eine
lange Straße bis zur Base Station hinau,
auf etwa 910m gelegen, wo man
ausreichend Parkplätze vorfindet. Für Anfänger befindet sich die
Vierersesselbahn Easy Rider gleich nahe der Base Station. Die
Doppelsesselbahn Midway Chair bedient leichte Abfahrten im Talbereich.
Parallel dazu führt die kuppelbare Vierersesselbahn Lions Express ein
ganzes Stück höher auf den Berg, bis auf 1275m
hinauf. Von hier oben führt die ganz
leichte Abfahrt Collins wieder hinunter zu diesem Lift. Man hat
eine große Auswahl von mittleren bis schweren Abfahrten wieder hinunter
zur Base Station. Eine weitere Doppelsesselbahn, der Sky Chair,
führt von knapp unterhalb der Bergstation der Lions Expresses
Vierersesselbahn hinauf auf den 1440
m hohen Mount Strachan, dem höchsten
Punkt im Skigebiet. Von hier oben kann man über schwere und eine
mittelschwere Abfahrt zum Sky Chair zurück, oder über die schweren
Abfahrten Top Gun und Humpty Dumpty wieder hinunter zur Base Station. Auf
der anderen Seite surren noch eine
weitere Sesselbahnen,
die kuppelbare Vierersesselbahn Eagle
Express führt auf den 1220m hohen Black Mountain hinauf.
Dieser Berg ist bei den Wintersportlern sehr beliebt, da man dort
Abfahrten aller Schwierigkeitsgrade vorfindet. Seit
der Saison 2007/2008 gibt es am Cypress Mountain 40% mehr
Pisten, denn die neue Vierersesselbahn Raven Ridge erschliesst
komplett neue Abfahrten bis hinunter auf 824m über dem Meer. Fünf
schwere und sehr schwere, sowie mittelschwere Waldabfahrten führen zu
diesem Lift. Die Könner bevorzugen die Abfahrten Hose
Side, Trumpeter, Black Fly, Meteor
and Black on Black. Über die
leichten Abfahrten Panorama und Windjammer gelangt man zurück zur
Base Station. Sollte man die letzte Fahrt der Raven Ridge Vierersesselbahn
verpassen muss man ca. 20 Minuten zur Base Station laufen. Am
Black Mountain befindet sich auch das neue Freestyle Gelände, die
Buckelpiste und Halfpipe für die Olympischen Winterspiele 2010. Sehr
zu empfehlen ist das Nachtskifahren, da fast alle Pisten geöffnet sind
und man eine große Auswahl an Pisten bisetwa
23 Uhr hat. An der Base Station befinden sich ein Restaurant und ein
Kiosk, die ebenfalls bis 23 Uhr geöffnet haben.
Wenn man kein Allradfahrzeug hat sollte man die Schneeketten nicht
vergessen da die Strasse sehr oft recht rutschig sein kann... Leaving West Vancouver you have a long road to the base station at an altitude of 910m where you will find enough parking lots. For beginners there is a quad, called Easy Rider near to the base station. The double chair “Midway Chair” serves easy runs in the valley area. Parallel to this one is the high speed quad Lions Express Quad Chair which gets you much higher on the mountain - up to 1275m. Up here you have the easy run “Collins” back to this lift. You have also a big selection of medium and difficult runs back to the base station. Below the top station of the Lions Express Quad Chair quad is the double chair Sky Chair up to the 1440m high Mt. Strachan, the highest lifted point in the ski area. Here you get back to the “Sky Chair” via difficult and a medium run or you can take the difficult runs “Top Gun” and “Humpty Dumpty” back to the base station. On the other side there are another quad chairs, the Eagle Express Quad Chair which lifts you up to the 1220m high Black Mountain. This Mountain is very popular because you can find runs of every level of difficulty here. Since the season 2007/2008 Cypress Mountain recieved 40% more runs because the new Raven Ridge Quad Chair open up new terrain down to 824m above sea level. Five advanced, as well as intermediate runs lead to the new lift through forest aisles. Experts prefer the runs Hose Side, Trumpeter, Black Fly, Meteor and Black on Black. Via the easy runs Panorama and Windjammer you can ski or ride back to the base lodge. If you miss the last lift at the Raven Ridge Quad Chair you have a 20 min. hike out back to the base station. On Black Mountain is the new freestyle, moguls and halfpipe are for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Very recommendable is the night skiing because nearly all of the runs are open and you have a great selection of slopes until 11pm. At the base station there is a restaurant and a kiosk which are also open until 11pm. Don´t forget your chains of do not have a 4wd as the road can be very slippery... |
