| Vom
Ort Golden faehrt man noch etwa 15 Minuten hinauf zur Day Lodge und zu den
Parkplaetzen vom Skigebiet Kicking Horse. Mit relativ wenigen Liften wird
dort ein riesiges Areal an Pisten aller Schwierigkeitsgrade erschlossen
mit langen Abfahrten. Von der Day Lodge starten die Vierersesselbahn
Catamount, die hauptsaechlich leichte und breite Abfahrten unterhalb der
Baumgrenze erschliesst, und die Achtergondelbahn Golden Eagle Express
direkt hinauf zum Gipfel bis auf 2347m.Am Gipfel befindet sich das
hervorzuhebende Restaurant und Bar Eagle´s Eye mit herrlichem
Ausblick auf die Rockies.Von hier oben startet die laengste und auch
leichteste Abfahrt (zumeist ein Ziehweg) "It´s a Ten" hinunter
ins Tal.Man kann auch von der Bergstation direkt in die CPR Ridge
einfahren und gelangt so ueber sehr steile Haenge in die Crystal Bowl. Am
Ende der Crystal Bowl startet die Vierersesselbahn Stairway to Heaven zum
hoechsten Punkt im Skigebiet und erschliesst die schweren
Tiefschneeabfahrten an der Redemption Ridge, in der Feuz Bowl und weitere
Abfahrten hinunter in die Crystal Bowl. Durch die Crystal Bowl fuehren
auch die leichten Abfahrten vom Eagle´s Eye hinunter ins Tal. Um in die
Bowl Over zu gelangen muss man von der Bergstation links ueber schwere
Abfahrten abfahren, oder ein Stueckchen unterhalb der Gondelbahn
entlangqueren und hat so wieder ein riesen Gebiet mit
Tiefschneeabfahrten vor sich.Etwas oberhalb der Day Lodge gibt es auch
noch weitere Parkplaetze und die Doppelsesselbahn Pioneer, die vor der
Eroeffnung von Kicking Horse Mountain Resort als Skigebiet Whitetooth in
Betrieb war. Mit der Doppelsesselbahn erreicht man schwere bis leichte
Waldschneisenabfahrten und kann auch wieder hinueber zur Day Lodge
schwingen. An der Day Lodge gibt es noch das Foerderband "Pony
Express" das speziell für Anfanger eingerichtet wurde. Zum Einkehren
ist das Eagle´s Eye Restaurant sehr zu empfehlen oder die Day Lodge, man
kann aber auch Snacks in der Heaven´s Door an der Talstation der
Vierersesselbahn Stairway to Heaven erhalten. From the village Golden you drive about 15 min. up to the Day Lodge and the parking lots from the ski resort Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. With relatively few lifts you have a large area to ski or ride with runs from very easy to extrem! At the Day Lodge starts the quad Catamount which serves mainly easy to intermediate runs below the tree line, and the eight person gondola Golden Eagle Express up to the peak at 2347m. At the top station of the gondola is the excellent restaurant and bar Eagle´s Eye with spectacular views to the Rockies. From here starts the longest, but also easiest run (mostly a flat way) "It´s a Ten" down to the base station. You can ski or ride the extrem CPR Ridge from the top of the gondola down to Crystal Bowl, too. At the base of the Crystal Bowl starts the quad Stairway to Heaven up to the highest point in the ski resort and open up advanced to extrem deep snow runs at the Redemption Ridge, in the Feuz Bowl and more runs back to the Crystal Bowl. All the easy runs lead through the Crystal Bowl from Eagle´s Eye down to the valley. To go to the Bowl Over you have to go left at the top station of the gondola or you can ski a scrap below the gondola and you find another large area with fantastic runs. Short after the Day Lodge are more parking lots and the double chair Pioneer - this was the only lift in the ski resort Whitetooth, before they have opened the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. With this double chair you reach advanced to easy runs below the tree line and you can ski or ride back to the Day Lodge. At the Day Lodge is a magic carpet, called "Pony Express" especially for beginners. For a break or lunch we recommend to visit the terrific Eagle´s Eye restaurant or the Day Lodge, but you can stop also at the Heaven´s Door at the base station of the Stairway to Heaven quad for some snacks. |
