| Revelstoke
Mountain Resort liegt am Mount Mackenzie, 6 km südwestlich von Revelstoke
und bietet ein erstklassiges Gebiet mit über 1430 Höhenmetern, einer
neuen kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn und einer Achtergondelbahn, sowie einer
neu renovierten und erweiterten Lodge mit Restaurant, Sonnenterrasse und Geschäften.
Die Skisaison 2007/2008 bietet 27 Abfahrten aller Schwierigkeitsgrade,
weite Bowls und steile Abhänge. Zusätzlich zu den Liften, dem Catski und
Heliskiing bietet das Revelstoke Mountain Resort ein Village Heli Center,
Restaurant, Geschäfte, Hotels, Appartements und Familienhäuser. Zum Einkehren steht die Day Lodge zur Verfügung, dort werden die Skipässe verkauft und hier starten auch die Pistenraupen, die sogenannten "Cats", die die Skifahrer Richtung Mount MacKenzie bringen, wo sie unberührte Skihänge vorfinden. Diese Art des Skifahrens nennt man hier Cat Skiing, die günstige Alternative zum Heliskiing. Am Morgen starten die 3 Pistenraupen, die Platz für je 12 Gäste bieten, hinauf Richtung Mount MacKenzie, wo unberührte Tiefschneeabfahrten warten. Nach einer knappen Stunde Auffahrt kann man sich in den Pulverschnee stürzen. Die Abfahrten bieten ein herrliches Panorama, sind relativ steil und führen im oberen Teil über baumfreie Hänge und anschliessend fährt man durch den Wald. Die Höhendifferenz pro Abfahrt beträgt zwischen 500m und 700m. Kommt man unten an, so wartet die Pistenraupe schon wieder für die nächste Auffahrt. Man schafft am Tag zwischen 5 und 6 Abfahrten und wer am Ende des Skitages noch fit ist kann bei der letzen Abfahrt hinunter zur Base Lodge gute 1800 Höhenmeter abfahren. Wer nicht mehr möchte kann auch mit der Pistenraupe zu Tale fahren. Am Ende des Tages trifft man sich zu einem Bier und einer Brotzeit in der Base Lodge, bevor es zurück nach Revelstoke geht. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis in den Selkirk Mountains. Revelstoke Mountain Resort is located on Mount Mackenzie 6 km (3.5 miles) southeast of downtown Revelstoke and features world-class terrain with 4,700 vertical feet; a new high-speed quad lift and eight-passenger gondola; a renovated and expanded day lodge with restaurant, deck, retail, and rentals. The 2007-2008 season will open with 27 gladed and groomed trails, open bowls, and steep chutes. In addition to offering world-class lift, snowcat, and helicopter skiing, Revelstoke Mountain Resort will also be a multi-phased resort community featuring a village heli-center, restaurants, retail, hotels, condominiums, townhomes, and single-family estate lots. For a break you can go into the Day Lodge, there is also the place where you can buy the lift tickets and the start for cat skiing. The groomers take the skiers up to the Mount MacKenzie, where they find unaffected powder ski runs. You call this type of skiing Cat Skiing, the convenient alternative to heliskiing. In the morning the 3 groomers, called "cats" start up to Mount MacKenzie where untasted powder runs are waiting for the skiers. Every cat can carry 12 guests. After nearly one hour you reach the top and you can start skiing through the fresh powder. The relatively steep runs offer a very nice panorama and lead in the upper part via wide slopes and than through the forest down. The vertical per run is between 500m and 700m. After the run the cat awaits you to take you up again. You ski about 5 or 6 times a day and everybody who is still fit can ski at the end of the day approx. 1800m vertical down to the base lodge. If you don´t like to ski all the way down, you can use the cat, too. At the end of the day everybody meets at the base lodge for a beer and some snacks, before you go back to Revelstoke.
