| Von
Nord-Vancouver fährt man eine lange Straße bis zur Base
Station, auf etwa 850 m gelegen, hinauf wo man ausreichend Parkplätze vorfindet.
Die leichten Abfahrten starten gleich vom Parkplatz aus und werden von der
Doppelsesselbahn Lodge Chair und einem Doppel Rope Tow, namens Goldie Rope
Tow, erschlossen. Um zu den weiteren Liften zu gelangen muss man ein
Stückchen vom Rope Tow oder dem Lodge Chair zur Doppelsesselbahn Mystery
Peak Chair hinüberschieben. Am Mystery Peak Chair findet man leichte bis
mittlere Abfahrten, sowie einen sehr langen Terrain Park für Snowboarder
mit vielen Hindernissen und Schanzen vor. Eine leichte Abfahrt führt
hinüber zum höchsten Lift in dem Gebiet, der Doppelsesselbahn Brockton.
Das ist der einzige Lift, der nicht für den Nachtskilauf geöffnet hat
und auch nicht beleuchtet ist. Von hier oben hat man einen herrlichen
Ausblick auf Vancouver. An diesem kurzen Lift findet man zwei kurze, aber
sehr steile Abfahrten, sowie auch eine kurze mittelschwere Piste und eine
ganz leichte Piste vor. Um zurück zur Base Station zu gelangen muss man
einen Ziehweg nehmen, bei dem man, wenn man nicht genügend Schwung hat
auch ein bisschen anschieben muss. Von der Bergstation des Mystery Peak
Chairs kann man über die schwere Abfahrt Unicorn (Nr. 13) auch hinunter
zum Lodge Chair schwingen. Diese Abfahrt ist relativ lang und führt durch
dichten Wald. Anfänger gelangen nur mit ein bisschen Anschieben von der
Talstation der Mystery Peak Chairs zurück zum Lodge Chair. Leider sind
die Lifte in dem Gebiet relativ alt und so entstehen sehr oft Wartezeiten,
v.a. am Wochenende und beim Nachtskifahren, an den Liften. Das Skigebiet
ist für Familien sehr zu empfehlen, Fortgeschrittene kommen hier weniger
auf ihre Kosten. Zum Einkehren gibt es nur an der Base Station eine
Cafeteria und ein SB-Restaurant. From North Vancouver you drive a long road up to the base station, situated on approximately 850m, where you find enough parking lots. The easy slopes starts from the parking lots and they are served by the double chair Lodge Chair and a double rope tow, named Goldie Rope Tow. To attain to the other lifts you have to walk a short way from the rope tow or the double chair to the double chair Mystery Peak. At the Mystery Peak Chair you find easy to intermediate runs, as well as a very long terrain park for snowboarders with many obstacles and jumps. An easy run leads over to the highest lift in the area, the double chair Brockton. That is the only lift, which is not open for night skiing and there are no lights. From here above you have a wonderful view on Vancouver. At this short lift you find two very short, but very steep runs, as well as a short immediate run and a completely easy slope. To go back to the base station you have to take a flat way to the other slopes. From the top station of Mystery Peak chair you can ski or ride the heavy run Unicorn (No. 13) which takes you down to the Lodge Chair. This run is relatively long and leads through dense forest. Beginners can only take the run down to Mystery Peak Chair and then they have to push or walk to the top station of the Lodge Chair. Unfortunately the lifts in the area are relatively old and in such a way you have to wait a bit, mainly on weekends and during night skiing. The ski area is recommended for families, advanced skier have not enough terrain. For a break you have only a Cafeteria and a self-service restaurant at the base station. |
