| Von Banff sind es etwa 16 km bis zum Skigebiet Sunshine
Village. Hier gibt es nur "echten" Schnee, Schneekanonen werden hier nicht
gebraucht, da das weisse Gold hier jeden Winter reichlich fällt. Von der Base Station aus
fährt man mit der
Achtergondelbahn in Richtung Sunshine Village. Nach einer Kurve
erreicht man zuerst die Mittelstation, an der man sich entscheiden muss, ob man aussteigt,
um mit einer kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn auf den Goat´s Eye Mountain zu schweben, oder
bis zur Bergstation weiterfährt. Am Goat´s Eye Mountain
haben die Könner ihr Revier. Man findet hier auch herrliche Tiefschneeabfahrten. Die
Abfahrt "Hell´s Kitchen" führt fast parallel unterhalb der
Sesselbahn zur Talstation.
Hier sollten wirklich nur Profis fahren, da diese Abfahrt durch steiles Waldgebiet
führt.
Jetzt wird es aber Zeit weiter nach Sunshine Village, auf 2160m, zu gondeln. Hier
kann man zwischen mehreren Liften wählen. Am besten aber man nimmt die
kuppelbare Vierersesselbahn Angel und steigt dann um in die kuppelbare
Vierersesselbahn Continental Divide. Dieser führt bis auf
den Lookout Mountain, 2730m, dem höchsten Punkt im Skigebiet und fährt
auch ganz kurz durch die Provinz British Columbia. Hier kann man zwischen leichten bis mittleren Abfahrten
wählen, also für jeden etwas dabei. Die Abfahrt "Delirium Dive" ist eine der schwersten Abfahrten in diesem
Gebiet und man kann diese nur nach vorheriger Anmeldung bei der Patrol fahren.
Am Mt. Standish gibt es die Dreiersesselbahn Strawberry Chair, die vor
allem fuer Anfaenger bestens geeignet ist und die neue kuppelbare
Vierersesselbahn Mount Standish Express, die leichte bis schwere Abfahrten
erschliesst. Leider kann
man nicht direkt bis ins Tal vom Lookout Mountain oder Mt. Standish durchfahren, sondern muss
die kurze Jackrabbit Vierersesselbahn benutzen, auch wenn man zum Goat´s Eye Mountain
zurück will.
An der Bergstation endet auch die kuppelbare Vierersesselbahn Wolverine
Express, die von der Mittelstation startet. Die
Talabfahrt, genannt "Banff Avenue" ist ab der Mittelstation der Gondelbahn ein langer Ziehweg, bei dem man auch
noch etwas mitschieben muss um wieder zur Talstation und zu den Parkplätzen
zu gelangen... From Banff you have an easy 16 km drive to Sunshine Village. Here you will find only natural snow, they don´t need snow-canyons, because they have enough snow. From the base station you take the new 8-passenger-gondola up to Sunshine Village. After a curve you reach the mid-station, here you can take the high speed quad to Goat´s Eye Mountain, or you can stay in the gondola up to Sunshine Village, the top station. The Goat´s Eye Mountain is a terrain for advanced skier, here you find wide deep-snow runs. The run "Hell´s Kitchen" is a very steep run through the forest and then along the quad only for extreme skier. After skiing the Goat´s Eye Mountain it is time to ski Sunshine Village. Here you can choose between different lifts. The best way is to take the Angel High Speed Quad and then the Continental Divide High Speed Quad up to the Lookout Mountain, with 2730m the highest point at Sunshine Village and on the way to the top you go a short piece through British Columbia with the quad. At Lookout Mountain you can ski the "Delirium Dive", an expert run, but you must register at the patrol, before you ski this run and you can choose between easy and intermediate runs back to the top station of the gondola. At Mt. Standish you have the Strawberry Triple Chair, especially for beginners and the new high speed quad Mount Standish Express which open up easy to advanced runs. To ski down to the valley, just take the short quad Jackrabbit (back to Goat´s Eye Mountain, too). There is also the top station from the high speed quad Wolverine Express, which starts at the middle station. The valley run, called "Banff Avenue" is a very long and flat way back to the base station... |
