22.08.2008Eines der ersten Hotels in Doha wurde komplett neu renoviert und bietet nun höchsten Standard. Die Lage der sogenannten "Pyramide am Golf" ist perfekt, direkter Zugang zum Meer mit Strand und in der Gegen der prestigereichen West Bay gelegen. Die Einkaufszentren können (wenn es nicht zu heiss ist) sogar zu Fuss erreicht werden. Um das Hotel befindet sich ein großer und gepflegter Garten wo sich der runde Aussenpool und Kinderbecken befinden. Ein richtig heisser Whirlpool mit direktem Blick auf das Meer lädt zum Relaxen ein. Die atemberaubende Eingangshalle mit vielen Springbrunnen, offenem Blick bis in die Spitze der Pyramide und Atrium Lounge empfängt die Gäste. Die Gästezimmer mit eigenen Balkonen bieten zumeist einen herrlichen Blick auf den Golf und sind sehr luxuriös eingerichtet. Kulinarisch wird im Hotel viel geboten: das Restaurant Al Hubara bietet ganztägig ein erstklassiges Speisenangebot mit internationaler Küche mit À-la-carte-Menüs zum Frühstück und Mittagessen sowie Brunch, direkt am Meer befindet sich das italienische Restaurant La Veranda und auf dem Dach mit herrlichem Blick über Doha ist das Al Shaheen Restaurant. Der einzige Irische Pub in Doha befindet sich im Sheraton Doha, Irish Harp genannt und ist bis 3 Uhr morgends geöffnet. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und die Wünsche der Gäste werden immer sofort erfüllt. One of the first hotels in Doha has been completely renovated and now offers the highest standard. The location of the so-called "Pyramid on the Gulf" is perfect, direct access to the sea and own beach opposite the prestigious West Bay. The shopping centres are (if it is not too hot) within walking distance from the hotel. Around the hotel is a large and well-tended garden where the round outdoor pool and children's pool are. A really hot whirlpool with a direct view of the sea invites you to relax. The stunning entrance hall with fountains, open view to the top of the pyramid and Atrium Lounge welcomes the guests. The guest rooms with private balconies offer mostly a magnificent view over the Gulf and are very luxurious. The cuisine at the hotel offers a lot: Al Hubara restaurant offers a full menu with first-class international cuisine with a la carte menus for breakfast, lunch and brunch, directly on the sea is the Italian restaurant La Veranda and on the roof with a magnificent viwe over Doha is the Al Shaheen restaurant. The only Irish pub in Doha is located in the Sheraton Doha, Irish Harp is the name and open until 3 o´clock in the morning. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. |

Die sehr schön und ansprechend angelegte Poollandschaft mit Wasserfall, Jacuzzis und der Flamingos Poolbar, sowie seperatem Kinderpool mit Wasserrutsche lässt auch viel Raum für angenehme Entspannung. Desweiteren befindet sich ein Hallenbad und Fitnessraum im Hotel, sowie Tennis- und Squashplätze. Der elegante Spa bietet neben Massagen auch eine Sauna, Dampfbäder und ein Römisches Bad. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Meer und man kann die neu entstehende "The Pearl" am anderen Ufer erkennen. Das ansprechende Frühstücksbuffet wird im "The Lagoon" serviert und es wird eine sehr große Auswahl angeboten. Der Service ist hier ebenfalls 1. Klasse. Zu empfehlen sind auch das Porcini, ein italienisches Restaurant und die Lobby Lounge. Der Admiral´s Club befindet sich direkt am Wasser und die Marina bietet Platz für 235 Yachten und Boote. Doha ist eine sehr aufstrebende und sehr stark wachsende Stadt und sehr lohnenswert für einen Stopover. The Ritz-Carlton Doha is a really luxury hotel. It offers high standard in service, hospitality and furnishing. In very nice pool area with cascade, jacuzzis and the Flamingo pool bar, as well as the childrens pool with water slide is enough space to relax. In the hotel is an indoor pool, fitness facilities, tennis and squash courts and an elegant spa which contains sauna, steam rooms and Roman baths. The hotel is located at the sea and you can see the construction of "The Pearl" on the other side of the water. The breakfast buffet is served at "The Lagoon" and offers a rich assortment. The service is here 1st class, too. We can also recommend the Porcini, an Italian restaurant and the Lobby Lounge. The Admiral´s Club is located next to the water and the marina offers space for 235 yachts and boats. Doha is a fast growing city and very worthwhile for a stopover. |

Katar liegt
im Persischen Golf, zwischen Bahrain und den Arabischen Emiraten mit der
Hauptstadt Doha und besteht aus einer schmalen, ovalen Halbinsel mit
einer Länge von 180 km und einer maximalen Breite von 80
km. Der höchste Punkt des Landes liegt bei 106m im Gelände von Jebel
Dukhan. Auf dem Landweg kann Katar nur über Saudi-Arabien erreicht oder verlassen
werden. Qatar is located at the Persian Gulf between Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates with the capital city of Doha. The peninsula Qatar is about 180 km long and max. 80 m wide. The highest point is near Jebel Dukhan with an elevation of 106m. On the country way you can leave or reach Qatar only via Saudi-Arabia. |

Eine einmalige Attraktion stellt der "Inland-Sea" im Süden
der Halbinsel dar - ein riesiger Salzwassersee mitten in der Wüste, der
durch einen 7 km langen Kanal mit dem Meer verbunden ist. Sandboarding

Zeit entstehen mehrere spektakuläre Bauprojekte in Katar, wie z.B. eine
400 Hektar große künstliche Insel namens "The
Pearl" in der nähe des Ritz-Carlton Hotels. Diese künstliche Insel befindet sich 20 km nördlich
des internationalen Flughafens. Weitere Luxushotels sind ebenfalls in Bau. |

Eine neue Brücke mit einer Länge von 40 km soll Katar mit
Bahrain verbinden. Dazu gibt es ein Projekt, einen Transrapid über diese
Verbindung verkehren zu lassen. Eine zweite Brücke soll eine
Verbindung zu den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten herstellen. |

von Doha komplett neu errichtet und soll 2009 eröffnet werden. |

existing airport of
Doha will be replaced in late 2009 when the first phase of New
Doha International Airport is expected to open. The double track Cable
Liner Shuttle from DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car with a length of 500m and a
speed of 12,5 m/s (= 45 km/h) will connect the terminal with the
gates. The systems has two trains with each 5 waggons and has a capacity
of 6000 persons in each direction. |
