Ab September 2008 folgt ein detaillierter Testbericht, da in der Saison 1999 nur 1 leichte Piste im Tal geöffnet war!
Der Berg war als Aussichtsberg mit 1 Vierersesselbahn und Doppelsesselbahn geöffnet!
From September 2008 we will test this ski resort again, because in the season 1999 was only 1 easy slope in the valley opened! The mountain was opend for sightseeing with 1 quad and 1 double chair!

Testbericht ab der Saison 2008
Ab dem Highway 47 sind es noch 7 km bis Whakapapa Village. Hier steht auch das Hotel "The Grand Chateau".Von hier aus steigt die Straße weitere 7 km bis auf 1625m stetig an. Man hat einen herrlichen Blick auf den Mt. Ruapehu 2797m, dem höchsten Berg auf der Nordinsel, und den Mt. Ngauruhoe 2291m. Von der Base Station führt ein kurzer Doppelsessellift in das Happy Valley hinab. Hier surren 5 Rope Tows und ein Schlepplift. Anfänger finden hier eine sehr leichte Piste von etwa 500 Metern Länge..
Fortgeschrittene können mit der Centennial oder National Doppelsesselbahn und der kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn Waterfall Express in den Skizirkus bis auf 2300m schweben.
Ab der Saison 2008 folgt hier ein Testbericht über das ganze Skigebiet...
Test report from the season 2008 on
From the Highway 47 you drive 7 km to the Whakapapa Village. Here you find the hotel "The Grand Chateau".
From now on the street takes you another 7km up to the Base Station 1625m with a nice view to the Mt. Ruapehu 2797m, the highest mountain on the North Island, and to the Mt. Ngauruhoe 2291m.
From the Base Station you can take the short Happy Valley Double Chair to the Happy Valley. This is the ideal resort for beginners. They have an easy 500 m slope and 5 rope tows and one T-bar. Advanced skiers can take the Centennial or National Double Chair and the high speed quad Waterfall Express to go up to the ski resort at an elevation of 2300m. From the season 2008 on we will write more about this ski resort...
