2 km nach Snowbird erreicht am
das Skigebiet von Alta. Der Highway 210 führt entlang des Skigebietes bis
zur Albion Base Station, wo die Straße endgültig endet. Es gibt viele
Parkplätze entlang der Straße von der Wildcat Base bis zur Albion Base.
Die zwei Einstiegsstellen in das Skigebiet von Alta sind auch
untereinander mit einem Seillift, dem sog. Transfer Tow verbunden und
mehrere kurze Seillifte ziehen den Skifahrer wieder zu den Parkplätzen an
der Straße da diese etwas oberhalb liegt. Zur Rustler Lodge kann man
sogar mit einer kurzen Dreiersesselbahn schweben. Mit dem neuen Collins
Express, einer kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn gelangt man von der Wildcat
Base über eine Mittelstation hinauf ins Skigebiet von Alta. Eine weitere
ältere Doppelsesselbahn, namens Wildcat erschließt auf der Vorderseite
des Gebietes zumeist schwere Abfahrten. Von der Bergstation des Collins
Expresses gelangt man über die High Traverse zu den vielen steilen
Abfahrten auf der Vorderseite des Berges und kann auch über mittelschwere
Abfahrten zur kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn Sugarloaf Express wedeln. Den
Sugarloaf Express erreicht man auch von der Albion Base entweder mit der
kuppelbaren Dreiersesselbahn Sunnyside oder der Doppelsesselbahn Albion.
An diesen zwei Liften und an der Doppelsesselbahn Cecret finden die
Anfänger ihr Revier, denn die Abfahrten sind hier zumeist sehr leicht und
breit, das perfekte Anfängergebiet, wie auch am Transfer Tow. Die
Dreiersesselbahn Supreme befördert die Skifahrer hinauf zum Point Supreme,
den höchsten Punkt von Alta, auf 3229m und startet etwas oberhalb des
Sugarloaf Expresses. Die Abfahrten am Supreme sind überwiegend schwer und
bestens für Fortgeschrittene Skifahrer geeignet. Von der Bergstation des
Sugarloaf Expresses kann man nach Snowbird
in das Mineral Basin wechseln. Dank dem Alta-Snowbird Skipass kann man so
auch das Skigebiet von Snowbird
mitbenutzen und es stehen einem noch mehr Abfahrten zur Verfügung. Zum
Einkehren gibt es in Alta das Alf´s Restaurant, sowie den Collins Grill
im Skigebiet und weitere Restaurants an den Talstationen sowie in den
Hotels in Alta. Wie auch in Snowbird bietet Alta unzählige
Tiefschneeabfahrten und Buckelpisten und ist daher für richtige Könner
als auch für den normalen Skifahrer ein sehr zu empfehlendes Skigebiet. Approx. 2 km after Snowbird you reach the ski resort Alta. The highway 210 leads along the ski resort up to the Albion Base Station, were the road finally ends. There are enough parking lots along the road from the Wildcat Base until the Albion Base. The two base lodges are connected with a tow, called Transfer Tow. Some smaller rope tows pull the skiers back to the road and the parking lots. There is a short triple chair up to the Rustler Lodge. With the new high speed quad Collins Express you can flat via a mid station up into the ski area from the Wildcat Base. An old double chair, the Wildcat open up mostly advanced runs at the front side of the ski resort. From the top station of the Collins Express you can take the High Traverse to reach all the steep runs at the front side, or you can take an intermediate run down to the high speed quad Sugarloaf Express. You can reach the Sugarloaf Express also from the Albion Base either with the high speed triple chair Sunnyside or the double chair Albion. At this two lifts and at the double chair Cecret is the terrain for the beginners, the runs are very easy and wide, the perfect area for beginners as well as at the tow lifts. The triple chair Supreme takes the skiers up to Point Supreme, the highest lifted point in Alta at 10.595 ft. The start is abouve the Sugarloaf Express and the runs at Supreme are for experts only. From the top station of the Sugarloaf Express you can ski to Snowbird´s Mineral Basin. The Alta-Snowbird liftpass doubles up the terrain and offers great skiing possibilities. For a break you can go either to the Alf´s Restaurant or the Collins Grill in the resort. Additional restaurants are available at the base stations and in the hotels in Alta. As in Snowbird, Alta offers innumerable powder runs and mogul runs and is for the expert skier as well as for everybody the perfect ski resort. |
