| Heavenly, das Skigebiet das sich über 2 US-Bundesstaaten erstreckt,
liegt unmittelbar am Lake Tahoe. Von South Lake Tahoe kann man entweder mit der neuen
Gondelbahn direkt zur Talstation der kuppelbaren Sechsersesselbahn Tamarak Express
schweben, oder man nimmt die Luftseilbahn oder die parallel dazu verlaufende kuppelbare
Vierersesselbahn Gunbarrel Express von der California Lodge hinauf ins Skigebiet. Von hier
muss man ein kurzes Stück hinunterfahren und dann mit der kuppelbaren
Sechsersesselbahn Poderbowl Express wieder ein Stückchen hinauf, um zur kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn Sky Express
zu gelangen. Dieser Lift führt bis auf den höchsten Punkt, bis auf 3080m. Während man
die mittelschweren Waldabfahrten hinunterschwingt hat man immer die herrliche Kulisse des
Lake Tahoe vor sich. Um nach Nevada zu kommen muss man die sehr flache Abfahrt, bei der
man auch ein bisschen anschieben muss, Skyline Trail von der Bergstation des Sky Expresses
links nehmen. In Nevada erreicht man schliesslich die kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahnen
Dipper Express und Comet Express, die einen dann zu mittelschweren Pisten schaukeln. Über
einen weiteren Ziehweg, den Crossover, gelangt man zu den Pisten die Richtung Nevada
Talstation führen. Mittelschwere, schöne Waldabfahrten führen hinunter zur Stagecoach
und Boulder Lodge. von der Stagecoach Lodge gelangt man direkt wieder mit einer
kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn hinauf, während man von der Boulder Lodge 2 Sesselbahnen
benötigt. Um wieder nach Californien zu gelangen muss man den von Schmidt´s Trail
nehmen, der an der Bergstation der Achtergondelbahn und dam Tamarak Express vorbeiführt
und am Sky Express endet. Der Tamarak Express bedient zumeist mittelschwere Abfahrten und
stellt die Verbindung zm Dipper und Comet Express dar. Um wieder zur Talstation California
Lodge zu gelangen muss man den Sky Express nehmen und kann dann über mittelschwere, bis
leichte Abfahrten bis in Tal wedeln. Möchte man allerdings die schweren Abfahrten
unterhalb der Luftseilbahn und des Gunbarrel Expresses fahren muss mit den Sesselliften
Patsy´s oder Groove sich ein Stückchen hochliften lassen um zur Bergstation der beiden
Anlagen zu gelangen. Die Talabfahrt zur neuen Gondelbahn an der Grenze zwischen
Californien und Nevada ist leider nicht möglich. Sehr zu empfehlen ist der herrliche
Blick, den man den ganzen Tag auf den Lake Tahoe hat. Nach dem Skifahren kann man gleich
in eines der Casinos an der Stateline in Nevada gehen... Heavenly, located directly at the Lake Tahoe, the ski resort where you can ski from California to Nevada and back. From South Lake Tahoe you can take the new 8-person gondola up to the six-person-chair Tamarak Express or you can take the aerial tramway or the high speed quad Gunbarrel Express from the California Lodge up to the ski resort. From the aerial tram or the high speed quad you have to ski a short slope down to the high speed six person chair Powderbowl Express. These chair take you up and you can swing down to the high speed quad Sky Express. This lift takes you up to the highest point in the ski resort - 3080m. During you ski the intermediate runs down to the Sky Express you can always see the Lake Tahoe. To ski or ride to Nevada you have to take the Skyline Trial, a very flat way. in Nevada you reach the high speed quads Dipper Express and Comet Express. At these lifts you find nice intermediate runs. To ski to the base stations Stagecoach Lodge or Boulder Lodge in Nevada you have to take at first another flat way, the Crossover. Then the slopes down to the base lodges in Nevada are intermediate and very recommendable. From the Stagecoach Lodge a high speed quad takes you up to the mountain again. From the Boulder Lodge you have to take two chair lifts. To ski back to California take the von Schmidt´s Trail, also a very flat run, and you cross the Tamarak Express lift line and you can ski down to the Sky Express. The six-person-chair Tamarak Express serves intermediate runs through the forest. To ski down to the California Base Lodge, take the Sky Express up, keep right, and you can ski down to the California Lodge. If you like to ski or ride the steep runs at the aerial tramways or at the Gunbarrel Express, just take the short chairs Patsy´s or Groove up to the top station from the aerial tramway. Please note that there is no valley run down to the gondola, only to the California Lodge. Very recommendable is the nice view to the Lake Tahoe all the day from the slopes at Heavenly. After skiing you can go to the Stateline and have fun in the Casinos in Nevada... |
