| Wenn
man von Salt Lake City in den
Little Cottonwood Canyon fährt erreicht man zuerst das Skigebiet Snowbird
und dann Alta. Vom Snowbird Center
startet die Kabinenbahn (Aerial Tram) direkt hinauf zum Hidden Peak auf
3353m. Von hier oben kann man auf der Vorderseite des Skigebietes jede
Abfahrt erreichen und man kann in das Mineral Basin fahren, eine riesige
Bowl auf der Rückseite des Berges mit unendlich vielen Hängen und
Pisten, von mittelschwer bis extrem. Von der Mineral Basin führt die
kuppelbare Vierersesselbahn Baldy Express hinauf Richtung Alta.
Vom Baldy Express kann man direkt zur Bergstation des Sugarloaf Expresses
in Alta gleiten. Mit der kuppelbaren Vierersesselbahn Mineral Basin
gelangt man wieder zum Hidden Peak hinauf. Unterhalb der Kabinenbahn
findet man viele extreme Abfahrten vor, die entweder bin hinunter zur
Talstation führen oder in der Peruvian Schlucht enden. Die leichte bis
mittelschwere Abfahrt Chip´s Run führt durch die Schlucht und bietet so
auch nicht so geübten Skifahrern eine sichere Abfahrt vom Gipfel. Die
kuppelbare Vierersesselbahn Gadzoom Express erschliesst auf der rechten
Seite der Kabinenbahn viele Waldabfahrten und bietet Zugang zu den
Doppelsesselbahnen Gad2 und Baby Thunder, die zumeist sehr schwere
Waldabfahrten erschliesst. Die Doppelsesselbahn Little Cloud führt im
Anschluß an den Gadzoom Express bis knapp unterhalb des Gipfels, so das
man noch in das Mineral Basin einfahren kann. Der Snowbird Center (bei der
Seilbahn gelegen), Creekside Cafe (befindet sich in Gad Valley's neuer
Creekside Lodge), Mid-Gad Restaurant (am Berg gelegen) und zahlreiche
Restaurants in allen vier Hotels bieten Essen und Getränke für das
gesamte Gebiet an. Es gibt auch Geschäfte, Souvenierläden und auch die Anfänger finden hier weitere Doppelsesselbahnen
(Wilbere, Chickadee, Ziprider) und leichte Pisten zum Üben. If you drive from Salt Lake City in the Little Cottonwood Canyon you reach at first the ski resort Snowbird and then Alta. From the Snowbird Center starts the aerial tramway straight up to the top, called Hidden Peak with an elevation of 11.000 ft. From here you can ski or ride to every run on the front side of the mountain und you can swing into the Mineral Basin. Mineral Basin in a huge bowl at the backside of the mountain with endless runs and slopes from intermediate to expert. The high speed quad Baldy Express takes you up to the ski area of Alta. From the top station you can glide to the Sugarloaf Express in Alta. With the high speed quad Mineral Basin you reach the Hidden Peak again from the other side. Underneath the aerial tramway you will find a lot of double diamond runs which leads down to the base station or into the Peruvian Gulch. The intermediate Chip´s run leads also not so advanced skier and rider from the top to the bottom through the Peruvian Gulch. The high speed quad Gadzoom Express open up on the right side of the tramway a lot of runs through the trees und is the connection to the double chair lifts Gad2 and Baby Thunder, where you find almost only advanced runs. The double chair Little Cloud in access to the Gadzoom Express ends nearly at the Hidden Peak, so that you can drive into the Mineral Basin. The Snowbird Center (located by the Tram), Creekside Cafe (located in Gad Valley's new Creekside Lodge), Mid-Gad Restaurant (located on mountain), and numerous restaurants in all four lodges provide food and beverage for the entire resort. They also feature retail and gift shops and there are additional double chair lifts (Wilbere, Chickadee, Ziprider) for the beginner and some easy slopes to learn skiing and riding. |
